Groupgrain

A small table. A clear set of totals.

Bring the rows together.
Keep the decimals exact.

Paste a CSV table with a header. Group one column's exact text, sum a different column's decimal values, and see every contributing record counted. The calculation stays in your browser.

1. Read your table

Up to 2 million UTF-16 code units, 100 columns and 5000 data records. Commas separate fields; quote fields containing commas or line breaks. See the exact dialect.

2. Choose different column positions

Numbered positions distinguish blank or duplicate header names. Numeric values may be negative, with up to 12 decimal places and absolute value no greater than 1000000000000. Keys are never trimmed or case-folded.

One exact key

A, a and A are different groups. Empty keys are allowed and labelled. Quoted commas and line breaks can belong to a key without splitting the record.

Decimal addition stays decimal

Selected values 0.1 and 0.2 sum to exactly 0.3. Negative adjustments and zero are valid. A blank numeric field is an error, rather than an assumed zero.

All groups remain available

The table shows at most 100 groups per page. The grand totals and local text/JSON exports always include the complete valid result, including groups on other pages.

Useful for a small category table

The starting example combines craft lengths: Ribbon totals 2, Cord totals 2 after a negative adjustment, and Tape contributes one zero-valued record. The grand sum is 4 across five records. If your values share a unit, that unit is your responsibility; the calculator reads decimal text and does not infer or convert it.
